United Technologies Corporation (UTC), a Fortune top 50 company is a dynamic global corporation operating at the leading edge of commercial and military aviation, aerospace systems, climate control, elevator design, security and fire protection. UTC is seeking a Commodity Specialist (CS) for the Non-Product Supply Chain group to develop and execute complex sourcing strategies within its UTC Business Units (BUs). The CS will also partner with other key functional leaders to identify supply chain opportunities in the spend category. In this highly visible role, the CS will be expected to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders at the corporate and BU levels and to execute sourcing strategies to drive value and significantly impact UTC bottom-line profitability by leveraging the One Company approach. The CS is responsible for initiating and driving the strategy for the commodity, identifying leverage points between the business units, aligning those with business unit leadership teams and supporting or leading project execution. The CS will monitor supply base industries to identify breakthrough opportunities with regards to cost reduction and new technologies. The CS will work with the BU to implement global strategic sourcing objectives and will drive gap closure efforts to ensure that the BU's achieve or exceed annual targets. Additionally, the CS will be responsible for identifying and driving strategies to accelerate the journey for global sourcing and spend management. The successful candidate will manage projects and be responsible for: Identifying, negotiating and delivering commercially favorable contracts. Delivering optimal value for strategic commodities to BU using best practices, professional tools and techniques. Driving cost reduction opportunities with the BU and establishing necessary Master Terms Agreements which leverage UTC combined spend. Benchmarking and sharing best practices. Lead supply base optimization and working capital improvement. Maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies and business trends in the commodity and incorporate these trends, when appropriate, into the commoditys strategic plan. Establish strategies to protect UTC against market fluctuations including contracting and hedging. Strategic supplier relationship management Success in this position will be measured by accomplishing the BU annual goals of driving acceleration of the cost reduction efforts, managing the market fluctuations to minimize cost impact and identifying ventures that enable business units to increase global strategic sourcing initiatives and spend management opportunities.
