Location: Stockwell, some travel required to Boarding School in Stedham, West Sussex.

An Ofsted graded 'good' school; Durand Academy is based over two sites in Stockwell and has a senior school/boarding school site in West Sussex. Durand Academy is the first state funded school to offer its pupils a boarding school education without charge. Durand became an Academy in 2010 and currently educates pupils from Nursery to Year 9; they will have a full complement of pupils by September 2018.

The position of Chief Finance Officer is a new role and offers a unique opportunity to join the academy's senior management team. This is a key role for the Academy; the Trustees are seeking a proactive and dynamic individual. The successful applicant must be able to immerse herself/himself in the strategic financial development of the Academy and have the ability to work well with a number of stakeholders and promote the Academy within the Local Community.

A varied role, the Chief Finance Officer will have overall responsibility for the schools budget and financial management; in addition this person will oversee a number of operational areas within the Academy including human resources, estates & physical resources and school administration. You will be responsible for financial strategy, capital investment appraisal, new funding opportunities and advise on the long-term strategic management of the academy's land and property assets. The boarding school site in West Sussex is currently undergoing redevelopment, over the next 12/18 months this will involve overseeing an extensive capital projects programme for this site, there is also potential for investment in the Stockwell sites property assets. The Management Accountant will reports directly into you and you will oversee a number of other non-academic staff.

The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record of working within a senior leadership role. Ideally you will have experience managing other resource areas, however this is not essential. Whilst a background in the sector is not necessary, a clear understanding of related issues and a demonstrable commitment to education is.
