Regional ER Advisor

Regional Employee Relations Advisor, covering Bristol, Somerset, Devon & Cornwall/ Permanent/£30,000/Company Car+Benefits.
This is a fantastic Role to join an innovative, progressive and forward thinking Multi national Business.
As the overall regional ER Advisor you will deliver an outstanding field based ER service throughout your region (and support other regions as and when required).
The key responsibility of the role is to effectively manage all employee relations cases in order that a swift and effective resolution is delivered.
You will ensure consistency of Employee Relations cases; produce trend analysis with subsequent recommendations for improvement; provide training, coaching and implement projects aimed to address common issues within your regions.
You will be able to make timely decisions, give clear direction and guidance on ER cases and maintain an overview of initial investigations conducted within your regions by other key parties.
You will have excellent organisational skills; an excellent understanding of operational retail workings; an excellent knowledge of current employment law and be a strong influencer able to deal with complex ER scenarios. You will be able to mediate collaborative solutions and compromise in difficult circumstances.
Conduct and manage all ER cases ensuring a professional, business focused and timely methodology is applied to disciplinaries, complex grievances, investigations and long-term sick cases.
Adherence to Employee Relations SLAs at all times to ensure that employees are receiving a prompt and effective service at all times whilst ensuring that the business is not exposed through lengthy resolutions to cases.
Be able to manage and plan case hearings, meetings and investigations across your remit of regions to ensure that all meetings are held promptly, acquiring the support from within the division as and when required.
Initiate, develop and maintain good working relationships with management teams, regional management teams, head office parties to ensure a cohesive working relationship and effective management of Employee Relations activity across your regions.
Effectively manage long-term sick cases, undertaking home-visits where required, obtaining medical advice and support from the company doctor or other health professions where required in order to assist employees in a timely return to work or other outcomes as required.
Ensure that the ER Tracker is updated on a daily basis through thorough liaison with the Head Office HR Helpdesk
Maintain an overview of communication between head office parties and field management colleagues within your regions, ensuring that messages and communications on individual cases are succinct and thorough, avoiding duplication and ambiguity particularly in terms of communications to the employee.
Consultation with the Head of HR on all dismissal cases, acquiring general advice and support as and when required on individual employee matters.
Read and understand all Legal Updates from the centre, ensuring that new policies and procedures are understood applied throughout the regions and division where required.
Maintain an overview of current employment legislation and distribute knowledge, skills and expertise to the HR roles within your region.
Ensure that any change in employment law is implemented across the stores in your regions, ensuring compliance of the company to legislation at regional level.
Maintain an overview and tracking of the number of cases in your division, using Head Office resources where feasible, in order to monitor trends and patterns in ER cases
Identify the root cause of specific issues within your regions, providing proposals and suggestions for continuous improvement in conjunction with your HR Business Partner and involving the resource
Coach and train the HR roles within your regions, up skilling employment law knowledge where necessary to ensure that initial investigations conducted by the HR roles are thorough, accurate and well managed.
Assist the HR Business Partner with planning, project management, the implementation of head office initiatives and ad-hoc support where required in other regions within the division.
Assist with the development, monitoring, updating and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
An ER Advisor will have good generalist HR experience and a solid background in ER. With experience of working within a multi-site retail industry, you will be a driven individual used to working to tight deadlines and with sometimes complex ER cases.
You will ideally be CIPD qualified, with experience in the following areas:
Coaching line managers in ER issues to empower and motivate
Dealing with a varied and challenging workload
Case management through to and including Employment Tribunal application
Have a strong understanding of current legislation and the impact this has on employee relations
Ownership of your own professional development regarding up to date legislation
Excellent understanding of operations in a retail environment
Strong administration and IT skills specifically in Microsoft applications
