Senior Financial Analyst

My client, a customs and services company located in Etobicoke, is looking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst for a 3 – 6 month contract. The Senior Financial Analyst serves as a financial advisor to business unit leader(s) which includes, but not limited to, preparing, reviewing and analyzing financial reports; preparing budgets, forecasts and projections; conducts variance and profitability analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Controller.



The Senior Financial Analyst will partner with business unit leader(s) and/or senior management to provide financial guidance and support in interpreting and analyzing financial and business issues which includes driving operating performance, delivering on business initiatives, growth and profitability while ensuring compliance to accounting principles and corporate governance. The Senior Financial Analyst proposes and influences alternate financial and business solutions which link to the business strategies to the operational units and annual operating/performance plans to assigned business unit leader(s). The Senior Financial Analyst prepares monthly reporting of key financial information for assigned business unit(s) in a timely manner, ad-hoc reports and analysis and monthly, quarterly and annual financial closure as well as supporting narrative to financial statements. The Senior Financial Analyst prepares and distributes financial reporting packages to assigned business unit leader(s) and senior management to insure compliance with company guidelines and financial reporting requirements. The Senior Financial Analyst will liaise with internal and external auditors and respond to requests for information and reports.



The successful applicant will have strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP and/or US GAAP and audit standards. The successful applicant will have a strong understanding and experience performing financial, forecast, budget and operation analysis. The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years previous experience working as a financial analyst and possess and recognized accounting designation. The successful applicant will have strong business acumen, excellent communication and be able to work under pressure.



This position is paying $35.00 - $45.00 an hour dependent on previous experience.
