Our client is a multinational financial services company. It is highly successful and reputable internationally.
They are looking for a Legal Counsel. You will work under the Legal Director based in Tokyo and handle a variety of international and domestic transactions under close collaboration with the global legal team. You will draft, revise and negotiate a very broad range of commercial contracts and agreements, which means you will be able to develop your knowledge and learn new skills very quickly. You will provide other general advice and guideline to the management of the company, regarding either standard business processes or specific transactions. You will represent the company in front of regulatory and financial industry meetings, as well as regular contract negotiations. You will provide various advice and consultation to the internal clients as well as the global legal team on how laws and regulations will impact your current or future business activities and performance. Furthermore, you will provide assistance to the company on issues relating to litigation and dispute resolution, both internationally and domestically.
You should be a qualified lawyer (from either Japan or an overseas jurisdiction) with at least 3 years of PQE. There is no industry preference, as it is more about the actual legal skills you have regardless of your industry background. You should be native Japanese with complete fluency in English, as international legal work requires an advanced level of English skills.
