Technical Manager

Exeter, United Kingdom, GB - Food Production

Technical Manager / Mid Devon / Permanent / £45000



As part of the senior leadership team the successful candidate will ensure compliance with all statutory obligations, customer requirements and company policies with respect to food safety and due diligence. You will be expected to develop and implement effective management systems to ensure operational and technical integrity at all times.



Key Responsibilities & Duties-



· Develop and implement a site plan to deliver continuous improvement against quality, cost and technical KPIs and ensure that the factory & suppliers maintain the standards required by all customers and relevant codes of practice/guidelines.

· Ensure effective QMS in place that encompass all aspects of food safety and quality to IOS/EFSIS/BRC/TFMS/HACCP standards

· Review & develop your team in order to ensure that they maintain acceptable standards of performance, attendance & behaviour and improve their performance against standards & targets, ensuring they are equipped to deliver against all expectations

· To ensure that the site is legally & contractually compliant in all areas and to actively promote hygiene & health & safety, immediately halting any un-safe working practice & taking appropriate action to remedy

· Achieve planned production throughput

· Monitor the ongoing progress of the operation, liaising with operations and other departments as necessary to predict problem areas & develop solutions

· Ensure that all employees within your team are aware of their roles/accountabilities, that training is provided to meet these and that employment & communication policies are complied with

· Communicate, liaise & escalate issues with the General Manager, colleagues and other departments where necessary

· Ensure that the site achieves and maintains the targeted level of accreditation through customer/legal auditing processes



Required Experience and Skill Set-



· Industry recognised Technical qualification - HND/Degree or equivalent

· Advanced knowledge of HACCP

· Demonstrable track record of delivering continuous improvement in technical & food safety standards

· Experience of managing internal & external auditing processes & requirements

· Excellent track record of managing teams; building capability, addressing any issues effectively and in compliance with legislative and company policies & procedures

· Ability to clearly communicate and influence internally and externally at all levels of an organisation

· Self-motivated and highly resilient

· Experience of a working with demanding retail or similar customer base

· A high level of flexibility is required and ability to problem solve in a fast paced environment with sometimes conflicting needs & wants
