Commodity Sourcing Assistant - Construction Materials

Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, GB - Construction

Fantastic Opportunity to join this market leading Construction / Civil Engineering organisation to provide administrative sourcing support expediting enquiries for high volume, high value goods and services.

These new roles form a team set up to provide central support for the business, leveraging Group spend and maximising cost saving opportunities utilising Preferred Suppliers and ensuring delivery in line with agreed Service Levels and Key Performance Indicators



· To complete Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and obtain competitive quotes for volume-related enquiries.



· To identify competitive sourcing strategies and conduct market testing for high volume, high value goods and services.



· To prepare cost analysis reports and provide timely comparative assessments to the business for decision-making purposes.



· To work closely with Group Procurement on various issues such as preferred supplier lists [PSL], new supplier requests, product enquiries, technical issues, performance problems, reporting etc.



· Create and oversee accurate procurement schedules to ensure specified business requirements are delivered on-time.



· To provide support to procurement colleagues and suppliers - answering queries, resolving issues, providing information etc



· To liaise with site management and attend site meetings as required.



· To attend supplier and service provider review meetings as required.



· To receive and issue tender documentation in a timely manner to suit the project requirements.







ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



· Procurement experience, ideally within a construction environment



· Solid IT skills - competent use of Excel (confident to manipulate data/create simple formulas), Outlook, Word



· A working knowledge of COINS procurement and Oracle would be ideal



· A knowledge of construction and civil engineering related products, services and equipment would be desirable but is not essential



· Good negotiation skills and experience of communication with suppliers and manufacturers is desirable



· Confident and experienced with using internet based sourcing systems



· Strong communication skills, plus an excellent telephone manner



· Strong administration skills - attention to detail, ability to identify data sources and high degree of accuracy



· Strong team player but also able to use own initiative



· Strong customer service skills



· Good negotiation skills, and experience of communication with suppliers and manufacturers
