Reporting to the Director of Competitive Strategy & Planning for Business Personal Systems (BPS) in HP’s Printing & Personal Systems (PPS) group, the Competitive Strategy Manager will analyze competitive portfolios, pricing and heat maps to drive HP roadmap planning and sales tools that maximize HP’s competitiveness in commercial computing. This manager will work closely with teams across product marketing, market intelligence, strategic planning, regional categories, worldwide sales and other commercial business unit leaders across PPS and HP. This position is based in Palo Alto.



Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver actionable assessments of worldwide competitive portfolios, strategies, positioning, targeting, features/innovations, use cases, roadmaps, pricing and financial/market performance to inform critical choice points and strengthen HP roadmaps, portfolios, positioning and differentiation.

  • Build competitive readiness sales tools and training that support worldwide and regional field teams to sell against competitive portfolios, capitalize on opportunities, make better decisions and drive prioritization.

  • Interact and influence cross-functional worldwide stakeholders ranging from senior executives to tactical decision-makers in product marketing, strategic planning, current business management, regional categories, sales, marketing, etc.

  • Support the broader Competitive Strategy & Planning team as needed.




QUALIFICATIONS:



Education/Experience Required

  • BA/BS required; very recent MBA graduates with relevant technology industry experience strongly preferred

  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in customer/competitive insights, product marketing, sales and/or strategy






Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Self-starter with a desire to affect meaningful change – and an intense passion to win

  • Analytical and strategic thinking to derive insights from fragmented data

  • Strong ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations – and to articulate a clear story for key stakeholders and senior management

  • Tenacious, focused, results-driven and detail-oriented – but willingness to move quickly to support urgent requests

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – recognized for communications relevant and appropriate for senior executives

  • Strong ability to influence internal and external partners for intelligence development and plan deployment

  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional project management with tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment

  • Strong ability to build sustainable relationships and achieve actionable results through others

  • Superior listening and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately manage sensitive and confidential information
