System Engineer / Software Technician

Kilmarnock, United Kingdom, GB - Airlines/Aviation, Computer Networking, Defense & Space

Experienced Systems Engineer / Software Technician with an electrical/engineering background to at least HNC level to work on a contract based in South Ayrshire. The client is a global leader in Air Traffic Control and Airport performance. The successful candidate will be working in a state of the art, purpose built facility and will preferably have experience in the following areas:



* Strong technical knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals and software installations.

* Strong analytical skills in diagnostics, troubleshooting and resolution with a working knowledge of different maintenance and monitoring utilities.

* Hands on experience maintaining basic networks ideally backed up by industry recognized network qualifications.

* Good understanding of different networking technologies (LAN, WAN, etc).

* Hands on experience in using UNIX preferably backed up by formal qualification

* Good technical knowledge of Windows (8, 7, Vista, XP and NT).

* Strong customer service background, able to liaise with different departments within the organisation and communicate directly with software developers

* Experienced in working in a safety critical environment; such as Oil, Gas, Nuclear or Rail industries

* Good at technical and non-technical documentation

* Good understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLA) and the importance of adherence to contractual agreements

* A basic awareness of Air Traffic Systems including Radar, Communications & Navaids would be an advantage
