The lab achieves differentiation by bringing research to life and into the heart of business. We are looking for talented engineer to work on big data analytics research and development.

Responsibilities

• Work on big data analytics platform research and development

• Collaborate with R&D team in ASTRI-HP Information Technology Research Centre, Hong Kong

• Collaborate with business partners to understand use cases, and utilize advanced data analytical approaches to solve difficult and emerging business challenges

• Data Scientist will design and implement efficient algorithms, as well as proof-of-concept pilot systems for large scale data analytics

• Data Scientist will work closely with software/system engineers for developing innovative solutions that will eventually be used in production

Qualifications

Requirements

• Minimum Master Degree in computer science, information engineering, statistics or mathematics


• Ph.D. in Statistics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, is preferred


• Substantial research expertise in one or more of the following areas: statistics, data mining, machine learning


• Proven track record of solving challenging real-world problems by application of advanced analytics skills


• Experience in working on large-scale, distributed data analytics problems


• Experience with Map-Reduce or Hadoop is a must


• Excellent programming skills in one or more of: R, Java, C, C++, Python


• Passion for working in an innovative, cross-disciplinary and team-oriented environment


• Proficient oral and written communication in English, as well as effective interpersonal and communication skills


• Candidates with industry experience are preferred


• Experience with agile software development methodologies and frameworks such as SCRUM, Test‐Driven Development, is a plus
