Job Description
Management Consulting professionals focus on strategy and take responsibility for organizational change and business transformation. The CCG practice is being grown aggressively to service overseas markets and has grown from startup to over 2000 consultants today.
The Communications, Media and Technology (CMT) practice within CCG focuses on clients in:
- Communications – telecommunications providers, cable television companies, wireless and satellite carriers, broadcast, internet and interactive service providers
- Media and Entertainment – entertainment, publishing, printing, and advertising industry
- Electronics & High Tech (E&HT) – aerospace & defense, communications equipment, computer hardware, consumer electronics, data storage equipment, office equipment, semiconductor, and software manufacturers
This role is for a consulting professional with experience in or understanding of telecom industry. The role will provide expertise to help telecom clients with various issues ranging Sales/Revenue enhancement suggestions to Churn reductions analysis or process optimization. The ability to work in an ambiguous environment with minimal support is the key to sucess. These may include client–oriented projects as well as development of POVs for Accenture. It should be noted that as in most consulting roles, projects may be in any location across the world. Project durations typically vary from several weeks to more than a year. Flexibility in work, core Intelligence , ability to work with customers and a readiness to travel within a short notice period are pre requisites for the candidate.
Examples of Project Delivery: Work in teams to deliver projects for global clients, and have experience , with minimal supervision, a wide range from among the following types of projects :
- Identify market potential for a geography of an existing product line or launch of a new product line
- Analyze reasons for churn and make suggestions to stem the same
- Understand the as-is process; issues with processes related and underlying technology
- Lead the transition of Business processes into an outsourced model
- Co-architect the to-be processes with strong functional understanding of best practices in sales, marketing, provisioning, activation, billing and revenue management
- Prepare Operational Impact Analysis and business cases to analyze projects in terms of cost and FTE
- Support projects throughout the solution development life cycle, from establishing vision and scope to validating business and user requirements in the testing phase
- Understand customer needs and translate them to business requirements business process flows and functional requirements –thereby acting as an interface between business and technology teams
- Perform an effective gap analysis of the existing product and solution against the requirements, and refined/define the requirements which will be cost effective and best aligned to the product/solution
- Carry out program-management activities, e.g. project planning, monitoring & reporting progress of the project, identifying risk mitigation etc.
Business Development:
- Support efforts of sales team in identifying and winning potential opportunities within CMT
- Support account teams in developing customer-specific solutions
Industry Expertise: Industry expertise mostly in Telecommunications industry (and where possible in High Tech and/or Media and Entertainment industries)
Qualification :
The following experience is necessary for the role:
- 7-10 years of Management Consulting experience, of which:
- At-least four years should be in a leading Management Consulting firm At-least five years of CMT-relevant experience
- At-least two years of experience in managing a team or a project
The CMT-relevant experience should comprise at-least one of the following:
o Application of eTOM Framework, BPMN or other industry standards/ models
o Demonstrated in-depth understanding of at-least one key eTOM process area (Fulfilment, Assurance, Billing)
o Lean six sigma / operational improvement within a CMT context
o Project – management / program-management experience in CMT-relevant projects
o Understanding of SDLC - Agile Methodology and ITIL processes would be a plus
o Techno-Functional knowledge on industry-standard software (e.g. Siebel, Oracle BRM, Amdocs Clarify, Amdocs Billing, Intec Billing & Mediation) will be an added plus
o Project experience with at-least one of the top five CMT companies in the country
- For this position, we are specifically NOT looking for profiles with experience predominantly in:
- Implementing / supporting IT application
- Telecom operations or business support (e.g. receivables/payables management)
Key Competencies and Characteristics:
- Possesses excellent communication (written and oral) skills and excellent presentation skills (Mandarin & English are must)
- Comfortable working at the highest levels of client organizations and interacting closely with the “C” level executives in a range of environments
- Demonstrated ability to lead & work with a team
- Ability to lead a team to deliver in a distributed delivery model
- Comfortable functioning in a broadly positioned and highly diverse consulting firm
- Possesses and demonstrates high integrity and credibility as perceived by all those with whom s/he will work
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- MBA from a Tier 1/ Tier 2 B-school
- Global exposure is desirable
Other Details
- Location – Beijing/Shanghai/Chengdu.
- Travel - Ability to accommodate ongoing 90% domestic or international travel. Please note that this is a vital aspect of the job and anyone who does not meet this requirement need not apply
- Understanding of dialects and foreign languages - specifically Cantonese, French and German will be an added plus which should be highlighted
