Application Specialist

This position resides within the Community Preventative Care (CPC) Application Support team who support a number of National Applications across the NHS Scotland account which includes a suite of Screening Systems.
This is a full time permanent position based in Dundee, 37 hours per week (Mon-Fri) covering core support hours between 08:00-18:00.
On-call out of hours cover required on a rota basis.
The Application Support team provides third line support to NHS Scotland users.
Core duties include:
- Third line support of Applications via calls assigned from the Service Desk.
- Development of all fault fixes.
- Resolution of incidents raised by Application users under Service Level Agreement targets.
- Carrying out operational maintenance.
- Performing Application implementations and upgrades.
- Providing training to the clients on a “train the trainer” basis.
- Subject Matter Expert on the Application to support new initiatives.
- Participation in Client Meetings.
Job Requirements
Essential
- Demonstrable experience of providing Application Support to end user Clients
- Demonstrable experience of investigation, troubleshooting, identifying solutions and resolving issues as they arise
- Ability to communicate effectively with Clients, Management and team Colleagues both orally and written
- Experience with ITIL processes including incident, change and release management.
- Able to work at a detailed level on simultaneous, complex tasks and meeting target Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Able to provide ongoing technical assistance and functional support to the business.
- Demonstrable experience in the support and development of web applications.
- Experience in the following technologies.
- Microsoft VB.NET / ASP.NET
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Windows Server
- Microsoft Office
Desirable
- Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant subject
- Business Objects (SAP)
- Microsoft Certification
