Senior Procurement Officer

Taunton, United Kingdom, GB - Government Administration

Senior Procurement Officer / Taunton / Permanent / £27000 - £28000 + Excellent Benefits.



Working as part of a Strategic Procurement Function the successful candidate will implement category sourcing strategies and establish cost saving relationships with suppliers, ensuring availability of products & services while optimising total cost of ownership of goods and services procured.



Key responsibilities-



· Manage the tendering, evaluation, supplier negotiations and award process ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and implementation of best practice.

· Conduct market intelligence activities that lead to a sound understanding of relevant supply markets.

· Manage the contract development process ensuring all contracts are of a term commensurate with commercial best practice

· Carry out tactical procurement activities including the placement of purchase orders and invoice resolution where applicable

· Support the development, monitoring and review of procurement key performance indicators and service performance indicators.

· Support the implementation and use of e- procurement technology to increase operational efficiency

· Manage contracts and vendor catalogues





Required Experience-



· Experience in procurement disciplines relevant to supply chain management

· Experience of negotiation with customers and suppliers

· Negotiating and influencing skills;

· Well developed verbal and written communication skills at all levels

· Contract management and performance monitoring experience

· Well organised with strong attention to detail

· Good knowledge of procurement tools and e-procurement systems - Desired but not must have.

· CIPS Qualified - Desired but not must have.
