Primary Function
The Maintenance Technician IV inspects and repairs HP company aircraft to ensure that they are airworthy, dispatchable and ready to support HP business requirements.
Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The Maintenance Technician IV assists the Chief or Assistant Chief of Maintenance in carrying out the technical requirements to keep all HP aircraft airworthy and in a state of readiness to be dispatched in support of HP senior executive travel requirements.
The Maintenance Technician IV performs complex inspections and aircraft systems troubleshooting. S/he performs preventative and corrective maintenance on assigned aircraft in accordance with manufacturer and FAA-approved methods and techniques.
The Maintenance Technician IV works in accordance with the HP Aviation Maintenance Core Processes (MX-CP-0100).
Under the direction of the Chief or Assistant Chief of Maintenance, the Maintenance Technician IV maintains compliance with applicable Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives on assigned aircraft. S/he ensures that work is done and aircraft records are maintained in compliance with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) as well as manufacturer’s requirements.
The Maintenance Technician IV routinely troubleshoots complex aircraft systems issues and resolves complex technical and procedural problems. S/he regularly works frequently with digital technology, as aircraft manufacturers typically incorporate onboard components and equipment that can be fault analyzed with a laptop computer and appropriate software.
The Maintenance Technician IV accompanies assigned aircraft to outside repair facilities to oversee maintenance when required.
Other Related Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
• Performs required maintenance and leads complex inspection activities on company operated aircraft in accordance with the manufacturer’s approved methods and techniques;
• Performs inspection and repairs when required to keep the aircraft available to meet the schedule;
• Troubleshoots complex aircraft systems to identify and rectify the source of reported problems;
• Acts as a Crew Chief with responsibility for reviewing, tracking and scheduling inspections and maintenance for the aircraft to which they are assigned;
• As Crew Chief, ensures that all maintenance documentation related to the work that is performed on their assigned aircraft has been completed;
• Ensures that assigned maintenance tasks and related documentation are completed in accordance with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs);
• Provides guidance to Maintenance Technician III employees in the resolution of complex technical inspections or troubleshooting issues;
• Ensures that records of work performed are complete, current and accurate;
• Ensures that assigned activities are completed in a safe and responsible manner;
• Stops work and consults with Chief or Assistant Chief of Maintenance on all jobs or operations where safety is in doubt;
• Secures resources necessary to complete assigned maintenance activities;
• Assists the flight crews with aircraft departures and arrivals including loading catering and baggage at departure and emptying the cabin and restoring it to flight ready condition upon the aircraft’s return;
• Interfaces with flight crews during pre- and post-flight briefings;
• Performs post-flight inspections and clears any discrepancies found during the course of the inspection;
• Participates in all aircraft marshalling and towing operations;
• Assists with aircraft cleaning as required;
• Assists with maintenance and repair of all ground support equipment;
• Stays informed and aware of all aircraft technology requirements;
• Constantly seeks opportunities to improve maintenance processes to enhance the effectiveness of the HP Aviation business support;
• Actively participates in the HP Aviation IS-BAO and Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives;
• Assist with hangar deliveries such as aircraft parts and water;
• Shares in hangar duties as assigned;
• Assists with snow and ice removal in winter operations as necessary;
• Moves and parks the vehicles of executive passengers;
• Works flexible schedules that are dictated by aircraft flight schedules;
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned by the Chief or Assistant Chief of Maintenance.

Qualifications
Education & Licenses
• Education: Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience as determined by the Chief or Assistant Chief of Maintenance; Completion of aircraft manufacturer’s approved initial and recurrent training programs on specific HP aircraft type(s) required.
• Licenses: FAA Airframe and Power Plant license required; Valid driver’s license required; Must have the ability to obtain an airport access badge and pass an airport driving test.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills
• Four (4) to six (6) years of experience as an aircraft and power plant technician required.
• Highly experienced in FAA FAR Part 91 operations.
• Advanced technical knowledge in aircraft systems and experience in the maintenance of corporate aircraft required.
• Well-developed troubleshooting skills and capability of solving complex technical issues with limited supervision required.
• Strong project management and training skills.
• Capable of identifying process improvements.
Scope & Impact
• May have international responsibility in working with foreign technicians and maintenance providers.
• Guides lower level Technicians.
• Direct report to the Assistant Chief of Maintenance.
