UTC Commodity Manager, Aerospace Hardware

Hartford, Connecticut Area, US - Aviation & Aerospace, Building Materials

Reporting to the Director, Supply Management within UTC(`9s Corporate Operations organization, the Global Strategic Sourcing Commodity Manager, Aerospace Hardware (CM) will develop and execute complex sourcing strategies for Aerospace Hardware. The CM will also partner with Manufacturing, Production, Quality, and Technical leaders to identify supply chain opportunities in the commodity. In this highly visible role, the CM will be expected to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders at the corporate and business unit levels and to execute sourcing strategies to drive value and significantly impact UTC bottom-line profitability by leveraging the (`cOne Corporation(`d approach.



The CM is responsible for initiating major strategic sourcing projects that have a significant impact for the Corporation and its business units in meeting quality, cost and delivery objectives and reducing the company(`9s exposure to any high risk impact associated with the assigned commodity.



The CM will work with the business units to implement global strategic sourcing objectives for global make and buy. The CM will drive gap closure efforts to ensure that the aerospace business units achieve or exceed annual targets. Additionally, the CM will be responsible for identifying and driving ventures and strategy to accelerate the journey for global sourcing and presence.



The successful candidate will manage projects and be responsible for:

(a2 Identifying, negotiating and delivering commercially favorable contracts.

(a2 Delivering optimal value for strategic commodities to BU's/Departments using best practices, professional tools and techniques.

(a2 Working with BU(`9s to identify multiple, large (>$10M) global sourcing work packages for transition to strategic global partners.

(a2 Driving cost reduction opportunities with the Aerospace business units and establishing necessary Master Terms Agreements which leverage UTC Spend.

(a2 Identifying and qualifying new suppliers and/or partners.

(a2 Benchmarking and sharing best practices

(a2 Supply base consolidation, inventory reduction, and cash flow improvement.

(a2 Maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies and business trends in the commodity and incorporate these trends, when appropriate, into the commodity(`9s strategic plan.



Success in this position will be measured by accomplishing the BU annual goals of global sourcing, driving acceleration of the cost reduction efforts, and identifying ventures that enable BU(`9s to increase campaign and global strategic sourcing opportunities.
