We are in search of a Senior Software Storage Engineer to join our growing HP Helion and Eucalyptus Cloud team. Interested in storage and scalable storage systems? We integrate and develop a range of storage technologies to bring a range of reliable storage services to our users. You'll need to be self-motivated, curious, and able to learn new technologies quickly. Java is the core language and is a necessary competency but we work with C/C++, Python, and whatever else is necessary to get the job done. We work with RiakCS, Ceph, various SANs, distributed file-systems, iSCSI, and others as well as bringing in new systems regularly. We are a fast-moving team that is responsible for a large part of the Eucalyptus footprint.




We're looking for someone excited about storage, eager to learn new systems, and who possesses the systems skills to become experts quickly.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


In this role, you will:


• Design, develop, and maintain core storage services in Eucalyptus including object storage (S3 API) and block storage (EBS API).


• Work with the support and sustaining teams as needed to design and support deployments in the field


• Analyze and integrate new technologies to provide the core storage services in a variety of user environments


• Write excellent code, tests, and work with our QA team to automate testing


• Communicate with various parts of the company including documentation team to develop best-practices and documentation for new features




Qualifications

You will have many of the following skills and attributes:


• Computer Science Bachelors or Master’s degree or equivalent experience writing production-quality code (5+ years)


• Excellent communications skills both written and verbal


• Expert Java skills


• Strong OO design and design patterns


• Solid skills with distributed systems, messaging systems, and SOA


• Linux systems experience: file-systems, OS primitives


• Experience with git or similar version control systems


Brownie points if you have:


• AWS storage APIs familiarity - S3 and/or EBS


• SAN storage background


• Distributed file-systems expertise at an operations or code level


• Open-source development experience and demonstrable contributions


• C/C++ expertise


• Python development experience


• Ceph experience in production


• RiakCS experience in production


• NoSQL/Key-Value experience in production
