Financial Controller

Hays are working with a leading UK retail and distribution business based in Preston. With a location in the heart of Lancashire and easily accessible from Manchester and Lancashire this remains a rare opportunity to join a fast growing local business as the finance number one within an owner managed business.



Following a period of rapid growth since their birth they are now looking to recruit for a Financial Controller who is able to work closely with the Directors and operations. The role requires a confident and commercially aware individual to look after the financial affairs of the business and support the strategic plans to optimise growth going forward.



Solely responsible for the finance function you shall sign off and review annual statutory accounts, produce monthly management/financial accounts as well as providing additional commentary, analysis and operational support across the financial function.



General Duties:

* Management accounting and develop management information to help the directors run the business.

* Departmental reporting and ongoing development of KPI's e.g. margin analysis by product / customer to identify trends etc.

* Budget preparation, forecasts and cash-flows

* Costing exercising identifying profitability and risk.

* Preparation of year-end accounts

* Company Taxation, P11d preparation, VAT review and payment

* Liaise with finance companies and auditors when necessary



Key areas to address:

* Creating a fit for purpose finance function to suit a high growth business.

* Stock control and management of rebates & returns

* Distribution costs, loss & damage claims

* Improve systems and procedures across the business to develop accurate and meaningful finance information

* Establish robust finance processes to support engagement with customers/suppliers.

The ideal candidate will hold the ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification and have held a similar role with a proven track record of leading finance functions within a retail/manufacturing sector.
