CSU Accountant

Our Client - an NHS based organisation based in Preston are looking to recruit an Accountant to join their large finance team.



Based within a Band 7 role the duties shall include :



Context of the role.



The Corporate Accountant will ensure that the financial management of the non-clinical expenditure of customers within the financial control team is effective. The role will be a key member of the financial control team. The post holder will help contribute towards the business being a provider of market leading financial support services and supplier of choice for its customers, The role will be responsible for contributing to an effective delivery strategy for the financial support services provided by the business, ensuring effective use of financial resources and people, consistently delivering successful outcomes and helping to manage financial risk. The role is a financial manager who will support the operational delivery of financial support services to customers and ensure internal business financial management requirements are fully met. The post holder will also be expected to provide high level financial advice and support to non finance managers, discussing highly complex, contentious and / or sensitive issues with budget holders, managers and senior officers within the business and other stakeholders as appropriate.

Financial Control

* Support decision making through provision of high quality insightful financial information and advice to a group of service customers in line with the agreed product matrix

* Contribute towards continuous improvement of high quality affordable financial processes, with focus on integration, efficiency and effectiveness

* Work closely with the embedded financial planning teams and financial control function to meet common aims and objectives

* Lead for maintaining the corporate areas of the General Ledger in relation to all financial management aspects in conjunction with the Finance Shared Service.

* For corporate areas, operate processes including budget setting, input to monthly reporting, Financial Information Management System (FIMS), reconciliations and Annual Accounts workloads against conflicting, time critical, deadlines involving the coordination of other departments to achieve the required deadlines.

* Ensure the financial position and variances for areas of responsibility are reviewed, investigated, challenged and signed off by a Responsible Officer and reported monthly

* Prepare working papers for the annual accounts process, including liaison with the business on complex matters



CSU Financial Management and Control

* Ensure an efficient finance function and contribute to its day to day management

* Provision of financial advice on the financial position, including responsibility for financial planning, budget setting, forecasting and costing activities

* Review and maintain the corporate areas of the General Ledger in relation to all financial management aspects.

* Support development of the medium and longer term financial plan

* Generation and maintenance of standard operating procedures and ensuring their adherence

* Production of internal and external reports on financial performance, including KPIs and provide appropriate financial advice

* Responsible for accurate sales invoicing, managing accounts receivable and credit control

* Line management of the Assistant Management Accountant
