THE ROLE



Based on OpenStack technology, HP Cloud OS is the world’s premiere OpenStack based cloud technology platform for private, public, and hybrid cloud delivery. HP Cloud is one of the fastest growing divisions within HP, building and delivering a portfolio of innovative OpenStack cloud solutions.



We are looking for Senior OpenStack Cloud Distinguished Technologists to design and deliver private & hybrid cloud solutions for our enterprise customers.



You will have an in-depth level of expertise across the spectrum of OpenStack technologies with a number of years’ experience in the migration of cloud technologies to the OpenStack platform.



Most importantly, you will be an active and regular contributor to the OpenStack community.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



As a HP OpenStack Cloud Distinguished Technologist your role will be to help our customer’s design & implement their private & hybrid cloud solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to HP Cloud’s technical OpenStack strategy by providing thought leadership and technical excellence.


• Work with our architectural & engineering teams and the OpenStack community to deliver innovative solutions that meet our customer’s needs.


• Be responsible for designing cloud solutions in partnership with the OpenStack Cloud Consulting Architect.


• Be able to individually implement smaller tactical projects or Proof of Concepts (POC)


• On large scale projects be able to manage and lead a team of implementation and support resources while maintaining the overall program view with the project leadership team.


• Be an active contributor to the OpenStack community.

Consistently evaluate current or emerging technologies to shape the strategic design of services in consideration of cost, portability, compatibility, and usability factors.



REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Design and implementation experience across at least 3 OpenStack releases.


• OpenStack experience must include; compute, storage and network experience, additionally you should have experience in one of the following; security, UI customization, integration, orchestration, automation, monitoring and reporting


• 14 + years of strong experience in Enterprise/Infrastructure related.


• 3 years’ experience working as a customer facing Senior Architect within infrastructure or software projects.


• You must have cloud experience, this is a minimum of 4 years. This must include private, public and hybrid cloud experience.


• Additionally, you should also have experience in the some of the following; multi-tenancy, multi-site HA/DR, billing, orchestration and automation, workload migration, identity management, performance analysis and modelling, & federated systems.


• Active contribution to the OpenStack community.


• Must have virtualization experience with KVM and VMware, additionally you should have experience in alternative technologies, for example; Xen , HyperV, LXC, QEMU.


• Experience with Amazon, Azure, and alternate cloud products and technologies.


• Experience in migration from cloud technologies to OpenStack.


• Development experience on a Linux platform with Python. Additionally you should have experience with Ruby, Perl, and Web development.


• Bachelors or Master’s degree or equivalent.
