Data Center Project Manager - HP Cloud Infrastructure

Multiple lab environments are being put in place to support HP Helion Cloud development and testing. Sites will begin to be installed in Houston, with additional sites in Ft Collins and Bangalore. Lab space will be dynamic and will require constant installations, decommissions, and communication with multiple teams with timely response to issues.
The Data Center Project Manager will be responsible for Asset Lifecycle, BOM creation and revision management, factory forecasting and coordination, repair and maintenance parts inventory and sparing strategy, and hardware implementation and coordination of hardware availability. You will develop Supply Chain improvements and innovations to enhance and drive continuous improvement to meet or exceed HP Helion R&D expectations.
The right individual for this role will be able to resolve complex, customer-driven hardware requirements definition, manage HP and multivendor hardware installation projects, and manage project deliverables involving multiple teams to effectively deliver development and testing capacity.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Data center and logistics project management:
- Management of DC Ops Lab Supply Chain deliverables supporting demand and delivery projects
- Parts inventory and sparing strategy – utilizing trending data to identify cost savings and continuous improvement opportunities
- Infrastructure Logistics Delivery workstreams for quick deployment of client requests for infrastructure
- Infrastructure Demand Delivery repair and maintenance workstreams to assist with implementing sparing strategy and inventory/spare space requirements
- Hardware contracting and vendor management
- DC Ops Asset Lifecycle, BOM Catalog, Revision Management
- ESSN MOU/ Updates
- Business planning and forecasting:
- Provide time / resource estimates for assigned projects while assigning work appropriately to others
- Factory forecasting and coordinating infrastructure ordering process
- Ensures project goals meets or enables achievement of relevant project oriented IT metrics and commitments per IT business goals and objectives
- Management of DC Ops Lab Infrastructure demand and delivery projects, focused on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors and stakeholders
- Customer interaction:
- Development of innovative solutions to business or technology problems. Work impacts internal IT customers and delivery of IT services or projects, typically geographically dispersed or globally
- Assisting with the definition of service levels and customer requirements while Interacting regularly with Helion Cloud development teams to determine their needs and to develop plans for improving infrastructure delivery
- Ensure data center related project priorities are consistent with company objectives
- Subject Matter Expertise:
- Applies strong subject matter knowledge to solve moderate to complex project/business/technical issues within established policies
- Exerts influence beyond the immediate team; demonstrates business acumen and applies it for effective business engagement with internal customers and effective management of projects and initiatives
Qualifications
You will have many of the following skills and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in a technical field, or 5+ years in IT project management roles or similar experience
- Strong understanding of networks and PC hardware architecture including hardware installation, and troubleshooting
- 5 years’ experience managing technical teams as a IT team lead or project manager
- 2 years’ experience with Linux/Unix system administration
- 4 years’ experience working in data centers and building out infrastructure
- Previous experience with complex datacenter hardware deployment, decommissioning, asset tracking, and inventory management
- Strong understanding of logistics principles and HP Lifecycle Management Repair & Maintenance management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of HVAC and power requirements for high-availability datacenters
