AppleCare is taking the next big step in Search and is looking for a thought leader to help make it happen. In this role, you’ll be managing a business-oriented team of language tuning experts to establish industry-leading practices and processes to monitor the quality of AppleCare’s search experience across a number of tools and applications. You and your team will maintain and communicate our Search roadmap, performance metrics and action plans to diverse set of stakeholders. You’ll form effective partnerships with our Machine Learning experts in the Information Technology organization to implement requirements and enhancements to the Search platform. You’ll also be a trusted and collaborative partner with your peers on the AppleCare Content Services team. With these solid relationships in place and with your knowledge of Search, we’ll make the best support and service content easily findable wherever it is needed.



Key Qualifications

• Deep and multi-faceted experience in designing, implementing and maintaining search engines, particularly those leveraging machine learning or analytical models.


• Proven management skills, marked by collaboration and a willingness to share your experience with others.


• An evangelistic approach to search, building upon a solid machine learning search background and applying the benefits to other delivery points in AppleCare.


• Experience in identifying search KPIs for a broad and diversified set of applications that consume search services and guiding a team that can relentlessly improve them.


• An approach to content findability that is marked by thoughtfulness, collaboration and innovation.


• Experience managing projects in an AGILE development environment.


• Understanding of Machine Learning concepts and how they can be applied to Search.


• Proven experience in managing highly leveraged web services, including their cross-functional governance, scalability and planning.

Description



Lead a highly talented team of search tuning experts in developing a comprehensive search strategy that meets the needs of several different business groups to deliver findability services and content to their diverse audiences.



Act as a collaborative subject matter expert and member of the AppleCare Content Services Management team, providing and taking recommendations to ensure our content is findable anywhere and at all times.



Reshape and gain consensus around a new set of search KPIs, tuning strategies and reporting processes that will help us shift from a language-oriented search tuning model to a new model based on machine learning.



Build relationships across geographies to understand special search needs and build tuning processes that can effectively scale across languages.



Partner closely with Search infrastructure and machine learning experts in our IT group to deploy regular updates to our search systems and machine learning models.



Education



Master’s Degree or greater educational experience in the area of Computer Science or Information Technology.



5 to 10 years experience managing technical projects with an emphasis on search engine and data analytics
