Therefore/As a result, we have a need for a Product Manager for Corporate and Enterprise desktop PCs, based in Houston, TX.



Commercial Desktop Product Manager



The product manager is the expert on the category and has overall responsibility for product lineup within the category; product plans, product roadmap and product concepts, MRD, PDD and POR. This person oversees the category and product execution throughout the lifecycle.



Abstract:


  • Category Expert – overall responsibility for product lineup within category

  • Plan 3 year roadmap for category that encompasses technology trends and customer requirements; identify / resolve roadmap gaps in category

  • Accountable for delivering differentiated, innovative, best-in-class desktops built on the foundation of HP Premier Business Experience that support appropriate price band coverage, profitability levels and business plan

  • Accountable for product from concept, research, MRD, RFQ thru delivering a POR which includes product positioning and key messages

  • Develop and drive new ideas to differentiate the product offering in the market (new hardware features, form factors, ad campaigns, etc.)

  • Drive Customer Insights by actively participating and contributing to research planning and execution

  • Drive category-specific strategic initiatives; work with vendors to create opportunities for new development, advertising, etc.

  • Clearly communicate category, portfolio, and PPS strategy to customers, senior management, regions, and external teams

  • Accountable for documented alignment with regions on concept and POR with exceptions noted

  • Understand the trends, month-to-month fluctuations, and long-term strategy for the category; contribute to long-term business planning.

  • Identify and communicate issues for the category with regard to product risks, competitive threats, and business issues

  • Communicate updates through relevant category updates and regular discussions at monthly roadmap sync meetings, IPMM, and Product Summit

  • Facilitate region relationships and interaction for your team

  • Look for areas to minimize or reduce complexity in the category; look for areas to reduce cost in category

  • Manage first line product escalations and make data-driven decisions to build or review effective business cases for the category

  • Customer briefings and training. Launch staffing. Participate in press tours.

  • Act as a leader and mentor to team members with regard to key product decision and system team leadership skills. Post POR work with product manager on positioning/messaging and proposed deviations from POR to ensure product stays on target.

  • Assign tasks, priorities, hold 1:1’s with product managers. Hold category team members accountable for results.

Qualifications
Education: College degree in Marketing/Business/Technical required; MBA desired



Knowledge/Skills:


  • Highly knowledgeable of desktop products and technologies and the business needs of the C&E and SMB customers

  • 7 years experience in product marketing fundamentals

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general marketing function either through education or work experience


Impact/Scope: Influence at the vice president and above level



Complexity: High – Independently drives strategic direction
