HP
Test Automation Engineer
United States, US - Computer Hardware, Computer Software, Information Technology and Services
The Converged Storage Infrastructure Management (CSIM) group is a high performance team creating software solutions that deliver a converged storage management user experience that epitomizes simplicity and agility, enabling HP to be the number one storage vendor in the market place. We develop SW products to simplify, automate, and enable agility for business through state-of-the-art technology for management of storage elements, converged infrastructure and services. We provide storage infrastructure management solutions for businesses spanning from traditional IT infrastructure configurations, to the most modern and progressive cloud based storage service delivery.
The CSIM group is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Solutions Verification Team (SVT). SVT is chartered with driving our internal SW development verification strategy, which involves building and maintaining a comprehensive, automated, continuous integration environment, supporting development and test activities for multiple distributed development / test teams. Our strategy is to move test activity as far left as possible in the development process, making extensive use of test automation and simulation, and continuous product level integration processes.
The person filling this position will be responsible for evolving our automated test / verification function in support of one or more of the products we develop. This will involve working very closely with developers and other test engineers in designing and implementing both the test infrastructure and test suits required to verify both functional and non-functional requirements for the products we are developing. The candidate should bring solid technical knowledge of relevant technologies (virtualization of compute, network, storage and other resources), have experience with a continuous delivery approach to software development, and be a professional with experience in software product development / test, emphasizing agile methods. We are looking for someone who is passionate about quality and who will take great pride in building products that delight our customers. You will have a strong internal drive, a tenacious spirit, a collaborative method of working, and deep experience in solving hard problems as simply as possible.
Key responsibilities:
· Plan test activities to verify acceptance criteria for user stories being developed in each agile development sprint for project(s) you are supporting.
· Design, implement, execute test cases and report results, working closely with developers and other test engineers to qualify defects found and help turn-around solutions quickly. Emphasis will be on development of automated test cases vs. manual.
· Contribute to the development of automation frameworks which host our automated test suits, supporting component level, and systems level testing, and which plug into our continuous integration environment.
· Work closely with our SVT test engineering leads as we evolve our agile test / verification strategies. You will design and develop verification simulation SW that will allow us to verify new product functionality at the sub-system level, allowing verification of various behavior models early in the development lifecycle.
· For system level testing, specify system level test configuration / environments and work closely with our lab infrastructure engineers to implement and maintain such environments.
