Senior Database Administrator

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, optimizing, maintaining and supporting Database Management Systems (DBMS). The Sr. DBA must act as the steward over the structure and contents of critical platinum databases. They will also be responsible for creating and enforcing rules, standards and policies as well as implementing highly complex projects.
The Sr. DBA is responsible to resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. This role serves as an expert (SME) in the resolution of the most complex incidents and problems
- Analyzes data requirements, application and processing architectures, data dictionaries, database schemes and file configurations. Collaborates with both technology and application vendors, as needed
- Daily support and administration of company’s Database Systems that support a variety of applications including and not limited to:
- Oracle JDE Enterprise One;
- Oracle Business Intelligence Applications and ETL Processes;
- Oracle IPM (Imaging and process management);
- Unified Communication Technologies;
- SharePoint.
- Designs, develops and implements the appropriate database environments to meet defined requirements, including data backup and restore requirements.
- Implement changes to database environments following pre-defined change management policies and procedures using ITIL practices.
- Create and maintain databases required for Dev., QA, and Production usage.
- Perform capacity planning required to create and maintain the databases.
- Put standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance requirements. Perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure that standards are being adhered to.
- Functions as technical leadership for multi-faceted projects.
- Consulting manuals, periodicals and technical reports to learn new ways to develop programs and maintain existing skills and knowledge.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- At least 5+ years working with Oracle 10g and/or 11g on Windows platform supporting an ERP system
- At least 2+ years working with MS SQL 2008 and/ or MS SQL 2012
- Solid knowledge of PL/SQL
- Familiar with Oracle tools such as SQL Plus, SQL Developer, DB Console or third party tools, e.g. TOAD
- Ability to work independently and be productive in an environment where priorities change.
- Working knowledge of industry practices, current technology, and project management methodologies.senior
