Payroll Officer

We are looking for an experienced payroll officer with strong investigative skills and work ethic for a 6 month fixed term contract, within a large, fast paced and busy payroll team in the Wellington CBD. The role also has strong permanent possibilities should the candidate prove themselves to be indispensable.



This role is primarily investigative in nature, and therefore the candidate will possess highly trained analytical skills and extensive payroll experience. The candidate will not be afraid to work in a very high volume role, and be resilient enough to work to strict deadlines. You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to not only follow through with tasks, but explain succinctly the steps they have taken to meet them. Your primary responsibilities will be payroll processing, including overpayment processing: triage, calculation and checking, as well as providing exceptional customer service as required. The ideal candidate will also have a background in education payroll and experience with Alesco.



To be successful in this role you must have an excellent understanding of New Zealand Payroll legislation and holidays act, have 2-3 years demonstrated experience in the successful delivery of payroll service. Ideally you will have public sector experience in high-volume, complex payrolls.
