Job Title: Assistant Medical Director (Consultants and therapists)

Location: Manchester / London

Department: Health and Benefits Management

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 plus benefits

Reports to: Medical Director



Hays Healthcare is proud to be working with arguably the UK's most prestigious private provider of Healthcare services. Our clients require an Assistant Medical Director for their organisation.



Job Role / Key Accountabilities:



This role will support the delivery of the consultant and therapist strategy, for the benefit of the clients insured members (customers). The post holder will support the delivery of the following health objectives and benefits:



· Lead delivery on the company's ethos: Longer, healthier, happier, lives.

· Achieve the above through three key pledges to customers

1. Ensure customers get the best possible care

2. That we will be with our customers every step of the way

3. Do more to tackle the cost of our customer premiums

· Work in partnership with healthcare professionals and hospital operators

· Support sales and marketing to demonstrate to customers our value



In addition to the above, the successful candidate will also be responsible for:



· Clinically review and sign off consultant contracting decisions

· Develop positive consultant relations, being accountable for dealing with individual consultants to resolve escalated issues from teams dealing with providers and benefit investigations

· Identify key opinion leaders and opinion formers in the consultant and therapist communities who want to work in partnership

· Contribute critical insight to routine service operations

· Provide clinical leadership and education to specialist frontline service terms

· Act as On Call Medical Director with accountability for escalated individual member funding decisions

· Work closely with the Medical Director, Consultants and Therapists on delivering the consultants and therapists management strategy as part of achieving the health and benefits management team objectives

· Provide clinical input to help achieve our business objectives for innovation and breakthrough thinking



Person Specification - Desired Qualifications and Experience



Prospective candidates should please consider the below before submitting their interest:



· Educated to degree level medicine (MBBS or equivalent), ideally with a higher qualification in a medical speciality

· A track record of transforming, developing and delivering clinical services in a commercial or commissioning environment

· Comprehensive understanding of the political, legislative, regulatory compliance and consumer environments affecting healthcare

· Ability to influence and engage at Director level and with senior stakeholders both internally and externally

· Ability to think strategically and commercially. A broad understanding business dynamics
