The successful candidate should have experience with JAVA web applications and experience working with AJAX libraries. Additionally, experience with instant messaging, presence, multi-party chat such as Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) is a plus.



The successful candidate should have 3 years’ experience working as an Application Engineer designing high-performance, scalable architectures, and writing applications in Java, and/or working on an equivalent open source project. Other required skills are as follow:

• Experience working with AJAX libraries. Experience working with Jabber Werx would be a plus.

• Familiarity with Apache HTTP web server.

• 3 or more years of experience developing JAVA applications using TOMCAT is preferred.

• Demonstrable experience working in a dynamic environment.

• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of customers and colleagues.

• Must be able to work cooperatively with infrastructure support admin personnel.

• Experience developing applications interfacing with Oracle or strong SQL development experience using another database product

• Must be able to manage time effectively and work on multiple project timelines

• Experience running high-traffic web services, including requirements and capacity analysis, service configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting, and change management.

• Excellent problem solving skills diagnosing performance issues and handling large scale systems.

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent.

• PHP - General familiarity with PHP.

• JAVA – 3 years’ experience developing JAVA web applications.

• Oracle – 3 years’ experience developing applications interfacing with a MySQL database or strong SQL development experience using another database product is a plus.

• Linux - 1 years experience 

    

Essential Job Functions

• Codes, tests, debugs, implements, and documents moderately complex programs. Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.


• Designs systems and programs to meet complex business needs. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs are developed and coded. Ensures programs meet standards and technical specifications; performs technical analysis and component delivery.


• Gathers information from existing systems, analyzes program and time requirements. Assists project manager in preparing time estimates and justification for assigned tasks.


• Designs programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs.


• Writes specifications for programs of low to moderate complexity.


• Assists support and/or project personnel in resolving moderately complex program problems. Works with client and management to resolve issues and validate programming requirements within their areas of responsibility. Provides technical advice on complex programming.


• Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs.


• Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews.


• Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.


• Remains abreast of industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience


• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field preferred


• Six or more years of programming or testing experience


• Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems and software


• Experience working with relational databases to facilitate programming software
