SQL DBA - Local to Dallas/Fort Worth Area
Dallas/Fort Worth Area, US - Information Technology and Services
Install and maintain Database systems and associated 3rd Party products. Manage these systems in accordance with the Service Level Agreement.
Act as lead DBA in transition and implementation projects. Take a senior role within the Database Systems Group.
Duties:
Administer & Manage MS SQL Server mission critical high availability environments - active/passive, active/active, mirroring and logshipping
Address complex database issues
Provide technical assistance where needed to both customers and team members
Ensure demands for database support are met by utilize both individual skills as well as team and offshore resources
Responsible for all Database analyst activities
Responsible for assuring system availability and performance of Database systems
Participate in and lead database projects
Provide support for customer problems and requests
No daily supervision required
Assure documentation is accurate and complete
Able to effectively lead medium to large and complex projects such as customer transitions. This will require the ability to co-ordinate activities with other teams.
Manage Security (role and encryption based)
Create users and manage permissions in a role based and granularity levels - object based
Manage Data Extract and Load Processes
Mid to expert level experience in database warehousing having heterogeneous data source pool
Manage SQL Replication between SQL servers on the LAN and WAN
Perform SQL Database performance Tuning from high to detail levels
Write T-SQL queries for report creation
Perform Windows Server performance tuning. Expert in sql profiling and troubleshooting via a thorough analytical approach
Design, architect and Install SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2 related database environments for variety of demanding customer pool
Manage SQL Backups, Dumps, and Restores
Must have excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to use available resources to solve problems effectively
Must have mid to expert level experience supporting SharePoint and Business Intelligence environments
Create, Test, and Administer Disaster Recovery Plan
Must be able to work independently to proactively maintain and support variety of critical SQL environments
Must have in-depth Microsoft SQL Server knowledge with several versions including SQL 2000, SQL 2005, SQL 2008 and SQL 2012 R2
Must be able to review service related reports (e.g., database backups, maintenance, and monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
Provide 24x7 on-call support as Database Subject Matter Expert, as needed
Must be able to respond to database related alerts / escalations and perform database engineering to develop strategic solutions for recurring problems for example new backend storage technology for backup solutioning and/or clustered environment implementation for High availability or load balancing
Must have strong interpersonal and communications skills for explaining technical issues to management and end users
