The System Audit Remediation Specialist (SARS) will support system-oriented financial statement audit readiness tasks in an effort to help the client achieve CFO Act compliance.
Based on the completed FISCAM assessments and known results for the client's various systems and financial applications, the SARS will be responsible for assisting System Owners with the development and maintenance of plans of action and milestones (POA&Ms) and/or detailed corrective action plans (CAPs) for the weaknesses/deficiencies identified.
The SARS will work with the client's System Owners, Business Process Owners, functional owners, Audit PMO, and/or senior management to:
- understand and evaluate the identified FISCAM deficiencies in the system(s)/application(s), including the root causes, security risks, magnitude/impact to the financial statements audit, uniqueness of deficiencies, and severity/materiality/relevance ranking
- assess the level of effort (action items, types of documentation, resources, time/deadlines, responsible person(s), constraints/challenges faced) needed to resolve the deficiencies and provide the necessary subject matter expertise with regard to a way ahead
- create and maintain POA&Ms and/or detailed CAPs
- review and evaluate the remediated action/documentation to ensure it meets the identified FISCAM criteria and other laws, regulations, and policies
- implement performance measurements and tools (e.g. metrics, dashboard, repository, SharePoint) to track progress of completion and ensure closure and/or follow up of open items on the POA&Ms and/or CAPs
- provide necessary trainings related to continuous monitoring, including the process and structure of remediation, validation/re-assessment, reporting of POA&Ms and CAPs, and escalation to upper management
- prepare and lead regular meetings/briefings to provide/obtain status updates and solicit feedback and lessons learned
