Throughout Ireland right now, there are hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who are performing extraordinary acts for their loved ones. They are family carers. These people are the unsung heroes of the country and they would be without a voice if it weren't for organisations such as The Carers Association and Caring for Carers Ireland.

The Carers Association and Caring for Carers Ireland members have recently passed special resolutions to merge both companies into one, to create a single national organisation of and for family carers. The main aim of this merger is to create one strong national voice, providing essential services and supports, based on a shared vision for the future.

This new organisation is now seeking to appoint a Chief Executive to lead the merged entity through the remainder of the merger process and into the future. This position is, by its nature, a fluid role. However, key responsibilities will include strategic management, human resource management, financial management, advocacy and governance and compliance.

As the CEO, you will bring significant senior management and leadership experience and will be able to demonstrate excellent long-term strategic planning. Previous experience of dealing with people from all levels is essential and outstanding people management and communication skills are crucial. Given the circumstances of a newly merged organisation, skill in managing it through significant change is going to be an important factor.

You will have the ability to make tough decisions, yet communicate these decisions in an empathic, diplomatic and understanding manner. However, at the heart of this role are the carers themselves. You will need to have a commitment to this cause - be prepared to live and breathe the values of this new organisation and have the determination to help build one that is fit for purpose, to serve the family carers of Ireland.

The remuneration package includes a competitive salary, a contribution to a pension and private health insurance.
