Senior Drive Qualification Engineer

San Francisco Bay Area, US - Computer Software

Description


This key position within the Drive Engineering team within the HP-UDU division will be responsible for various activities related to Drive firmware, interface, and system-drive interaction. These activities range in type from the definition of FW requirements to the qualification of drives into HP-Storage systems to troubleshooting of related issues that escape our qualification process.


Responsibilities



  • Managing HP Drive FW, which includes documenting technical needs, maintaining FW history, tracking progress during various qualification activities

  • Execute HP Drive FW Qualification, which includes managing joint testing activities with suppliers, executing qualification tests at HP, troubleshooting & resolving issues during qualification, planning of various qualification activities

  • Support Drives that have been delivered by HP, which includes maintaining SW to support drives, working with development teams to define future needs, managing information from suppliers

  • Support HP's internal cross-functional efforts during qualification, which includes support for QA, Operations and customer support




Qualifications
Education and Experience Required


  • BS in EE/CE/CS or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in testing drive or drive-related products.

  • Strong working knowledge of the SCSI Protocol.

  • Strong working knowledge of Fibre Channel, SATA and SAS drive interfaces.

  • Experience analyzing interface-level issues with drives.

  • Experience using an interface analyzer, preferably SAS and/or SATA.

  • Experience in system/storage administration, familiar with clustering and failover.

  • Good working knowledge of Linux/Unix.
