Java Developer

Columbus, Ohio Area, US - Information Technology and Services

The State and Local Government Organization of Hewlett Packard(HP) is seeking a Java Developer to support the Ohio Department of Taxation testing and development efforts. This position is located in Columbus OH.



The Java developer is responsible for configuring and developing solutions in the delivery of a COTS-based enterprise tax system, for our State of Ohio client. This is an agile project and the role will participate in and interface with SCRUM teams and the client's staff on a daily basis. The developer duties encompass the full development lifecycle, as defined by the project, in the planning, creation, testing, implementation, and support of ETPM solutions and others duties as assigned.




Specific Job Duties Include:

• Participates as a developer on an agile project team, applies in-depth specialized knowledge to conceptualize, design, develop, unit-test, configure, and Java solutions through the application of appropriate standard software development life cycle methodologies and processes.

• Provide technical advice to the product owner so that he or she can understand the complexity of the requirements and make appropriate decisions and effort estimates.

• Plan a sprint and manage self to the plan.

• Respond to circumstances and adjust processes, standards, and tools to optimize performance. Adapts well to and embraces changes in work priorities and methods.

• Perform cross-functional and interdisciplinary work when needed.

• Designs units for others. Completes development to implement complex components.

• Develops independently; participates in code reviews and may lead code reviews. May lead and provide mentoring and guidance to less senior developers.

• Applies HP and 3rd party technologies to complex software solutions of moderate complexity.

• Independently implements end-user or enterprise solutions complexity or services prepared by more senior technologists for more complex solutions.




Qualifications
Qualified Candidates will meet or exceed the following requirements:



• Minimum Bachelor's degree in a computer science or related field with six (6) years of software development experience.

• Six (6) or more years of experience in writing code with Java Standard Edition, Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), Oracle RDBMS

• Agile project team experience

• Business presence with ability to communicate effectively up and down the project organization. Competent spoken and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated performance as a self-directed, results oriented, transparent team member

• Experience on one or more full release project life cycles.
