HP Vertica Quality Assurance Engineer-Machine Learning / Analytics- Cambridge, MA

This is a rare opportunity to work on the core team of Quality Engineers that handle terabytes of user data and is on the leading edge of large scale data analytics. You will work on components that test machine learning algorithms and large data processing by the Vertica Analytic Database and have the potential to make a large impact on our business.

The daily grind:

• 
  

  Develops and implements test plans and cases to test machine learning and analytic algorithms based on Vertica's highly distributed system.

  
  


• 
  

  Develops, executes, and analyzes tests for Vertica database server and analytic APIs, specifically focused around the system level features and functionality.

  
  


• 
  

  Provides technical feedback and input for design specification, and determine test strategy and planning.

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborates and communicates with different groups regarding project progress and issue resolution.

  
  


• 
  

  Writes scripts to automate test cases and maintains test infrastructure.

  
  


• 
  

  Helps solving customer reported issues.

  
  

Qualifications

What YOU need to SUCCEED

• 
  

  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related fields;

  
  


• 
  

  Master or PhD degree with machine learning, data mining and database background is a big plus.

  
  


• 
  

  Familiar with machine learning and data mining algorithms and theory; research or work experience in these areas is a big plus.

  
  


• 
  

  Proficient in R language; programming skills in Python, C/C++ or Java is a plus.

  
  


• 
  

  Good understanding of database and distributed systems; experience of database or software testing is a big plus.

  
  


• 
  

  Familiar with Linux/Unix systems and capable of writing scripts using languages e.g. BASH or Perl.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong analytical and problem solving skills; good quality assurance methodology/process skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Highly motivated and excellent self-learning and communication skills.
