Permanent Development Engineer-Team Leader job in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This job would be commutable from Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Bradford, Halifax to mention a few. The successful applicant for the job could come from a Structural Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineer, Development Engineer, Site Engineer, Design Manager or Regional Engineer background.
The company has been established for over 60 years and is a leading supplier of non mechanical plant hire providing engineered modular and proprietary temporary works equipment for ground support, formwork, falsework, propping, jacking, temporary bridging, roadbarriers and a wide range of other systems. They have an excellent network of depots and engineering offices across the country and employ over 450 staff. On a more personal note, the company displays real family values and has a culture of trust and open sharing throughout the business. This would be an excellent place to work and can boast a low turnover of staff and number of loyal employees who have been with the company for most/all of their career.
The successful applicant will have a background in civil, structural or mechanical design engineering from a UK based design consultancy or construction contractor. You will be educated to degree level and ideally be working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer with the ICE, IMechE or IstructE, although this is not essential. Your strengths will ideally include steel design, temporary works, project management and staff management.
The job will be working in the product development department of the company and will focus on taking new temporary works products to market from an engineering focus. This will include designing, manufacturing (outsourced) and testing new prototypes which could be anything from small connective products that could take weeks to develop upto huge ground breaking support structures that could be years in the making. The job will also include a large element of coordination with the manufacturers and technical aftermarket support when the products go live.
The job is offering an excellent remuneration package which will include a basic salary of £40-45,000 depending on experience, a company car or car allowance, an excellent private pension including 10% contribution from the company, private healthcare and an annual attendance related bonus that could range from 5-7% (depending on grade and company profit). They give a generous 25 days holiday + bank holidays with an extra 5 days holidays every 5 years for that year only. Working hours are 37.5 per week, 8.30am-5pm with 1 hour for lunch.
