Hewlett-Packard has a team providing management of key aspects of the production and quality processes and work in close relationship to the Hewlett-Packard Supply Chain team in the UK and Puerto Rico.

HP Storage Business This role is in the supply-chain for HP’s Storage business which is one of the key investment areas for HP and is regarded as a major growth opportunity for HP. This particular role supports the Storage business based on tape automation and tape drive development in which HP is a world leader. HP tape products are sold under the HP badge but are also OEM’d to most major computer manufactures. The main production site for the drives is in Hungary as are a number of the key component suppliers. The successful candidate for this role would initially manage the product related hardware issues.

Job Description The Product Engineer focuses on managing product features and capabilities through the entire lifecycle. Continues to steer products through world-wide production. Acts as a multi-disciplinary caretaker who interfaces with various management teams throughout the product development process. Interfaces with R&D, factory process engineering, test engineering, and reliability engineering to solve product quality or yield problems.

Responsibilities

• Partners with R&D and Supply Chain on product planning related activities; uses empirical analysis, modeling, and testing methodologies to validate product designs and specifications.


• Manages the realization of product features and capabilities throughout the entire product life cycle.


• Serves in a multi-disciplinary product caretaker role by interfacing with various stakeholder management teams.


• Coordinates and leads the activities of internal and outsourced development and manufacturing partners in support of the worldwide manufacturing effort.


• Transitions newly designed products into the manufacturing phase of development.


• Leads internal and outsourced manufacturing partners in the expansion of product manufacturing.


• Coordinates communication and logistical activities associated with new product introductions.


• Sustains products through cost reductions and continuous quality improvements, seeking yield improvements and ensuring that quality goals are met.

Qualifications


Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
  


• Typically 2-4 years of experience
  


• Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  

Knowledge and Skills

• Using engineering tools and software packages to test, design, and evaluate products and manufacturing processes.
  


• Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills.
  


• Understanding of material properties and hardware and electrical component design and manufacture.
  


• Using empirical analysis, modeling and testing methodologies to validate product designs and specifications.
  


• Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate manufacturing plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options.
  


• Fluency in English and Hungarian is a must.
