Looking for a Jr to Mid level Java Developer to join ICPS team supporting USCIS for a Web application for DHS.

Located in Washington, DC. Accessible from Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station.



The CSC Team provides IT support to the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) for the majority of their fielded software applications and systems. USCIS is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is the sole US government agency dealing with all immigration and citizenship applications for the person immigrating into the United States; about 8 million applications per year. We support over 400 offices in a world-wide environment with high quality software solutions.



CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen

• Must be able to obtain/maintain a USCIS 6C clearance (level of Public Trust clearance)

• All work must be conducted at work location - No remote work

Candidate will be expected to conduct/participate in peer reviews and assist team members with problem resolution.



Job Specific Functions

•Designs, codes, tests and maintains software using Java/J2EE technologies..

•Participate in designs application modules that work together to produce desired product.

•Works with other team members to develop a complete and integrated solution. Bring insight and new ideas to the team

•Monitoring and maintaining live production system. Providing application support and troubleshooting assistance to users.



Job Specific Qualifications

•Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing and implementing software solutions using Java

•Minimum of three (3) years of coding, testing and debugging programs based on requirements.

•Minimum of three (3) years of IT experience in Full Life Cycle development, to include: system design architecture, development, maintenance and support.

•Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an agile environment with Test Driven Development process.

•Experience with the following is plus: J2EE, XSL, XML, JSP, Oracle, and Web Service development. •Experience with Visual Basic (VB6) preferred



Essential Job Functions

• Codes, tests, debugs, implements, and documents programs. Assists in the modification of company products and/or customer/internal systems to meet the needs of the client and/or end-user.
  


• Gathers information from the system, analyzes program and time requirements, and prepares documentation to change existing programs.
  


• Researches and analyzes existing systems and program requirements, under periodic supervision.
  


• Designs programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs.
  


• Writes specifications for programs of low to moderate complexity.
  


• Assists in resolving production support problems. Develops and suggests alternative approaches to resolving problems.
  


• Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs. Identifies issues as appropriate.
  


• Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.
  


• Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews.
  


• Remains abreast of and researches industry technical trends and new development to maintain current skills and remain current with industry standards.
