We have partnered with a fascinating and pioneering organisation uncovering the complexity of nuclear fusion and shaping a future that will utilise fusion power as a viable and commercial energy source. To continue their growth and development they search for a Computational Scientist to maintain and support the specific camera systems used on the Joint European Torus (JET) which is the world`s largest fusion facility. Your work will involve data analysis and the use of high level languages to complete this task, from C++ and IDL to Matlab and Python.
You will be involved with the development and upgrade of viewing systems and responsible for producing relevant technical documentation, scientifically interpreting images to extract information such as power loads to the wall and impurity sources within the plasma as required by the experimental programme. Other responsibility will be interacting with other experts in the field, including publication of results at international conferences and in refereed journals.
You will have completed your PhD and have excellent research experience, able to demonstrate a broad practical knowledge of technologies relevant to visible and/or infra-red viewing systems OR core data analysis. You will have experience of Python, IDL or Matlab programming languages and have a keen eye for detail.
