Reliability Engineer
San Francisco Bay Area, US - Consumer Electronics
The candidate will work with Apple’s innovative Reliability Engineering team working within the iPad, iPod, SoftGoods development group. The engineer will be responsible for understanding designs, and producing and delivering appropriate test plans based on design risks. The Engineer is responsible for following and executing detailed test specifications as well as being able to develop test methodologies for novel Apple products/sub-assemblies, materials and supplier technology. The role will include leading first level failure analysis and root cause understanding of failures in tests, and making recommendations to design teams.
Key Qualifications
- Experience of designing and/or performing testing including; Mechanical Stress Tests, Shock/Drop/Vibration Testing, Environmental Testing
- Familiar with Failure Analysis analytical techniques (Optical Microscopy, X-Ray, SEM/EDS, FTIR, XPS etc)
- Ability to use fundamental failure analysis methodology to derive a root cause of failure
- Knowledge of industry test Standards (JEDEC, ASTM, IEEE)
- Solid understanding of mechanical Design
- Application of DOE (design of Experiments)
- Application of FMEA (Failure Modes an Effects Analysis)
- Strong background in Electrical/Mechanical/Materials Engineering or Physical Sciences

Engineering degree and 4 years of experience in a related field or industry require
