An exciting opportunity has recently become available for an experienced Media Officer within busy government department.
The primary purpose of this role is to assist with the major development and implementation of a new program with a growing government department of a new program within a busy government department. You will utilise your skills to identify and engage with a wide range of critical stakeholders to manage expectations and perceptions. You will be expected to research and write press releases, presentations, talking points, background briefs articles and any other materials that senior executives require of you. Within this role you will also be working closely with the executives to identify opportunities for positive media coverage. You will be charged with the management of any issues that arise from negative attention. You will work with the media and communications team to create a media communications plan to ensure the highest quality possible.
The ideal candidate for this role will have demonstrated media and public relations experience, including in the development and implementation of effective media and reputation management strategies, combined with experience in media management within a Government environment. It is essential that you have highly polished written and verbal communication skills, together with the ability to quickly evaluate an issue and identify potential positive and negative storylines and appropriate responses.
Government experience is desirable.
