Bradford, United Kingdom, GB - Education Management, Primary/Secondary Education

Headteacher

Start date: September 2014

Salary: L23 (£65011) - L27 (£71701) plus up to 25% salary enhancement

Heaton Children's Services, on the outskirts of Bradford, consists of Heaton Primary School, Heaton Children's Centre, the Acorn Centre and a Forest School. Heaton Primary School is a vibrant, thriving and ambitious three-form entry school with 640 children on roll from Reception to Year 6 and a 100-place school nursery. The Children's Centre provides sessional day care for up to 40 additional children from 2 years and also support to families. The Acorn Centre is a behaviour unit for up to 10 children with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties at risk of permanent exclusion from primary schools across the district.

This is a large and complex organisation but one with a very clear focus on providing the best possible opportunities for its children and improving life chances for them, their families, the local community and the wider district. This is achieved by working in partnership with the local authority and other service providers.

The building provides a bright and motivational learning environment and the surrounding woodland provides Forest School and nurture provision to children of all ages in the nursery and school. While it is in an area of some deprivation where many of the children have significant pastoral needs, the school has an enthusiastic, talented and hard working staff that are absolutely committed to doing the very best for the children in an inclusive and caring environment.

Ofsted graded the school as 'good' in 2010 and this is an exciting time for the school and for the new Headteacher to build on recent successes by:

* Having a clear focus on pupil progress through a commitment to the highest standards of teaching and learning which ensures every child is able to fulfil their potential

* Actively seeking and embracing creative and inspiring approaches to teaching and learning and leading staff in using these to improve outcomes for all of the children

* Ensuring it retains its inclusive, warm and caring ethos where children can learn, and grow to become confident, caring and capable young citizens.

* Further developing the school as a hub for the wider community so that it can raise expectations and achievement for all

* Providing inspirational leadership and a 'can-do' attitude that inspires and engages children, parents/carers, staff and all members of the school community

If you are an experienced senior leader in a primary setting, with a successful track record of sustained improvement and a determination to maximise the opportunities available, then this role offers an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment. Highly motivated and driven, applicants must have an in depth knowledge of excellence in primary teaching practice and should have the creativity and vision to inspire and lead change but also the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. Familiar with holding staff accountable and also being accountable for outcomes, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of the qualities required for effective school leadership. You must be confident and positive and have the skills to build, lead and inspire effective teams and to be an effective team member. Above all you will share the school's passion and belief that children, their learning and developing their potential is at the heart of all decisions.
