Subsidiary of leading media giant. Provide strategic legal support to ensure compliance, manage risk and boost a new consumer business.

Stemming from a market leading media broadcasting company, this new entity has emerged from one of the largest brands in the Malaysian market. As the head of the legal department, you will be reporting directly to the CFO on all legal matters, including but not limited to transactional agreements, announcements, M&As and corporate restructuring. You will be in close contact with the various segments of the business, particularly the Finance and Sales & Marketing departments. You will work to ensure that the company is at all times compliant with prevailing legislation and regulations with respect to consumer and company law. You will also engage regularly with the management team, providing strategic legal advice on proposed developments.

You must be a proactive individual who is focused on providing preventative measures rather than reactive solutions. You must be called to the Malaysian bar with a minimum of 5 years experience in a corporate commercial environment, ideally in the retail industry. Due to the autonomous nature of the role, MBA holders and those with strong business acumen will be regarded favourably. In addition to qualifications, you must have a solid understanding of pay TV business and consumer law, including but not limited to dealings with the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Domestic Trade. Procurement and B2B purchasing experience will be advantageous.
