A SENCO is required for a large 2 form entry primary school within the borough of Camden. This leadership role requires a good/outstanding teacher with significant experience in the Primary sector. Working closely with colleagues the SENCO will need to identify pupils' barriers to learning and successfully develop strategies to improve pupil progress. Working closely with parents to support their child's progress is also an essential part of the role.
Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks:
* Exercise a key role in assisting the Headteacher and governors with the strategic
development of SEN/Inclusion policy and provision in line with national, local and
school requirements.
* Support all staff in understanding the needs of and fulfilling their statutory
responsibilities to SEN pupils and other vulnerable groups.
* Ensure the objectives to raise the achievement of SEN/EAL/G&T/LAC are reflected in
the school improvement plan.
* Monitor progress of the objectives and targets for pupils with SEN/EAL/G&T/LAC
from teachers' plans, evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning by work
analysis and use these analyses to guide future improvements.
* Analyse and interpret relevant school, local and national data and advise the head
teacher on the level of resources required to maximise achievement.
* Liaise with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools to co-ordinate their
contribution, provide maximum support and ensure continuity of provision.

** Excellent communication and presentation skills.
** Ability to organise and sustain systematic support from a variety of providers for a range of SEND.
** Ability to lead and manage support staff.
** Ability to enthuse, motivate and work with individuals and teams of colleagues across the
school.
** Familiarity on current thinking on the provision for and raising the attainment of G & T pupils
