Layher are the world's largest producer of modular scaffolding systems and are internationally recognised as the leading scaffold supplier to the mining, construction, buildings & infrastructure, petrochemical and event industries.



An exciting opportunity currently exists in Wellington for a Senior Design Engineer to take the lead technical role to provide innovative design solutions for temporary works. The position is responsible for enabling clients to apply Layher scaffolding products efficiently and safely while providing comprehensive structural design and technical support to a broad range of national projects.



The technical work will include preparing scaffold, falsework, event and protective systems designs, CAD Drawings and list required components from site surveys, drawings and tender documentation. You will provide a design solution to each structure and verify designs in accordance with client requirements and AS/NZS standards, give after sales support to clients and train the client and their local engineers in regards to the Layher products and application knowledge. You will attend site visits to resolve engineering design solutions in the field as well as prepare design concepts and planning proposals. You will also be responsible for compliance related work including submissions in respect or Australian/New Zealand standards and best practice guidelines.



To be successful you will have a civil / structural / Mechanical engineering qualification with proven experience in CAD design with an understanding of materials engineering and their performance under stress and a solid understanding of structural elements. You will be competent in engineering design and calculations with steel and CAD software drafting on projects. You will be at intermediate to senior level in your career and be looking to take on a lead technical engineering role.



You will have excellent communication skills and will enjoy the challenge of technical problem solving and generating design solutions for multiple temporary works scaffolding projects across New Zealand.
