Hays have been engaged to assist a manufacturing firm find their next helpdesk analyst to join their internal support team, based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. This role will be a career starting one, with minimal travel but a broad set of tasks and responsibilities within a traditional IT helpdesk environment.



The team support a user base of close to 500 staff, who expect a high level of both customer service and technical skill. The existing members have set the bar high and you will be expected to continue providing service that goes well above workarounds or quick fixes. Being a company that put a high degree of value on having well measured processes and compliance with industry standards, they follow the ITIL framework and have a call management suite and knowledge base which are used religiously.



The environment that you will support is a fairly standard Microsoft infrastructure, utilising MS Windows 7 desktops/laptops, MS Exchange and Active Directory, MS Office suite 2010 and a whole host of bespoke and "off the shelf" applications. The more technical you are the better, but equally important is the desire to improve upon and develop your technical abilities. They run their own retail sites too, so exposure to POS systems would be beneficial.



In an average week, a helpdesk analyst in this team will take up to 175 calls and is expected to be able to resolve 80% of those. For incidents that are more complex or require advanced permissions, you'll be able to escalate to the desktop support team.
