YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Bayer seeks to further develop bioinformatics capabilities in the field of patient derived

genomics data analysis to meet the challenges of precision medicine. As Bioinformatics

Research Scientist (m/f) you are responsible for carrying out complex bioinformatics analyses

of patient-derived genomics data for the identification of biomarker candidates and/or novel

drug targets:

• Design and analyze large scale experiments integrating diverse types of high-dimensional

and complex data

• Implement and apply bioinformatics solutions (software, data integration) in order to answer

key questions in translational medicine in cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams

• Focus on the complex, statistically sound analysis of clinical or preclinical NGS and other

genomics data in oncology or cardiology and manage to translate the results into actionable

information

• Bridging biomarker and target discovery approaches and thus contribute to project teams

translating between early research and late stage development data

• Responsible for initiating and supervising external collaborations with academic partners or

biotechnology companies

• Guidance of technical staff members, master students, Ph.D. students, or postdocs

• This position reports to the Head of Bioinformatics of Bayer Pharma
