Senior Treasury Analyst - Risk Management

Position will join the Global Treasury-Pension Risk and Reporting team. Team is responsible for the global accounting and reporting related to pensions, other post retirement/employment plans, 401(k) plan and various US health and welfare (H&W) plans. The team is also responsible for the annual US benefit plan audits, related compliance filings, plan financials and footnotes.
The position will focus on the US H&W plan accounting functions and monitor certain accounts related to the US H&W plans. The individual will also provide accounting support, coordinate various compliance activities, oversee certain regulatory requirements, and may manage certain monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and finance deliverables.
Position will work with a diverse group of professionals both internally and externally. This role will heavily interface with 3rd party service providers.
In addition, this position will have the opportunity to support numerous activities involving the Hewlett-Packard split. This is an incredible opportunity to be part of such dynamic project. The successful candidate will be heavily engaged in these activities until the completion of the project.
Responsibilities:
- US H&W: Draft monthly journal entries to record certain US H&W activities, monitor certain H&W general ledger balance sheet accounts, determine accruals, and provide balance sheet fluctuation explanations. Responsible for coordinating 5500 filings for various H&W plans. Responsible for setting up H&W service provider banking arrangements, submitting funding requests, and coordinating changes to disability surety bonds.
- Internal Control Focused: Will provide support, as needed, to internal and external auditors. Individual will be responsible for the annual review of Trustee control reports (SSAE16’s) and for providing support throughout the department SOX reviews, the annual corporate audit, and the benefit plan audits.
- Annual Benefit Plan Audit: Coordinates the annual H&W benefit plan audit and all the related benefit filings with regulatory agencies. This may include assisting an external firm in the preparation of the trial balance, financial statements, and disclosures as well as recommending appropriate adjustments. Position may also work with a 3rd party in order to fulfill this work. Extensive work with the external auditors will be required as well as with other key stakeholders: Human Resources, Treasury, Legal and 3rd parties.
- 3rd Party Service Providers: Individual will assist in providing feedback to key providers and may participate on certain 3rd party RFPs.
- Financial Analyses, Special Projects and Process Improvement: Ongoing process improvement initiatives and documentation of key activities will be expected as well as creative solutions to complex issues. Position will also oversee various strategic projects, financial analyses, varied Treasury initiatives, benchmarking activities, and drafting senior presentations.
In addition, individual must be willing to leverage available tools and technology to improve financial processes and must be able to foster and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders and external partners.
Position will work extensively with internal departments such as Human Resources, Tax, Finance, Controllership, Legal, Internal Audits and various third-parties such as external auditors, global actuary, custodian/trustee, etc.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
- First-level university degree or equivalent experience (emphasis in accounting); advanced university degree preferred
- Accounting certification highly desirable, Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- At least ten years of experience in industry and/or public accounting
- Recent experience preparing financial analyses, reconciliations, journal entries, working trial balances, financial statements, related footnotes and SEC experience a plus
- Benefit plan experience
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Systematic understanding of controllership and treasury processes, as well as other finance functions.
- Excellent understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and benefit plan accounting
- Understanding of trust accounting and ERISA/DOL/IRS and PBGC regulatory requirements for benefit plans
- Demonstrated ability preparing reconciliations, journal entries, working trial balances, financial statements and financial analyses.
- Experience documenting processes and controls along with the ability to leverage technology to improve or simplify processes.
- Control and risk focused; must ensure adherence to prescribed controls.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to execute a project.
- Solid communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as collaborative skills.
- Ability to work effectively on a team and individual must be service oriented.
- Self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects, manage aggressive deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including financial acumen.
- Detail oriented and proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools required.
- Ability to develop presentation packages a plus.
