ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for experienced OpenStack Specialists to deliver custom cloud solutions to our enterprise clients. You will have an in-depth knowledge of cloud services, open sources technologies and the linux operating systems. OpenStack Specialists will demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following macro technology areas:
- Networking
- Storage
- Virtualization
- Cloud Application Migration
- Automation & Orchestration
- Distributed Systems
Our professional services group offers Advisement, Transformation and Management of HP Helion OpenStack solutions to enterprise customers. You will be involved in the planning, design and implementation of these solutions from the ground up. Our group is comprised of self-driven, hardworking, start-up minded people who strive for excellent customer service.
Work locations include: Seattle, Sunnyvale, Fort Collins, San Antonio, Austin, New York and Atlanta
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working with architectural and engineering teams and the OpenStack community to design and deliver innovative solutions that meet our customers’ needs.
- Individually implementing smaller tactical projects or Proof of Concepts (PoC)
- On large scale projects, providing leadership in your specialized area
- Working in a supporting function after the handover of solutions to customers
- Actively contributing to the OpenStack community through:
- Presentations
- Local events & meetups
- Blogging / Social Media
- Conference/Summit Participation
- Committing & reviewing source code
- Mentoring and coaching colleagues
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or Engineering field
- OpenStack experience in one or more of the following specializations:
- Compute (Nova; Glance)
- Storage (Swift; Cinder)
- Networking (Neutron)
- Security (Keystone)
- UI customization (Horizon)
- Orchestration (Heat)
- Automation (Puppet, Chef)
- Monitoring and reporting (Ceilometer; Oslo)
- Working knowledge of Linux internals
- Scripting Experience, especially Python
- Experience with Linux automation tools (Chef, Puppet)
- Experience with Linux-based virtualization technologies (kvm, libvirt)
- Experience contributing to the Open Source community
- Experience with public clouds, specifically their APIs
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Deep knowledge of one or more OpenStack projects
- Code contributions and operational experience
- Experience working in a DevOps team using agile methodologies and continual integration tools
- Experience with Linux-based traditional and distributed storage systems
- Working knowledge of Open Source messaging systems, relational databases, and key-value stores
- Working knowledge of Linux clustering technologies
- Experience working in large scale environments, 5,000+ nodes
