VAT Manager

Norwich, United Kingdom, GB - Accounting

Hays Taxation is recruiting a VAT Manager for a Top 10 firm in Norwich.



This challenging and progressive role will involve developing and managing a portfolio of clients, providing support to the regional VAT Director to develop the VAT practice in East Anglia, and contributing to the growth of the firm in the region



Project involvement:

· Managing and developing a portfolio of clients in the East Anglia region.

· Taking responsibility for the delivery of advice to clients and colleagues.

· Ensuring assignments are completed within agreed budgets.

· Review the work prepared by other members of staff.

· Ensure that the firms quality control procedures are adhered to as appropriate.

· Identifying risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities.



Management:

· Ensure the firms professional standards are met.

· Supervise, support and develop more junior staff.

· Work as part of the management team with other Tax managers.

· Assist in the provision of training to more junior staff,.

· Counsel, appraise, develop and motivate staff as appropriate.



Sales and Marketing:

· Participate in bids/proposals for new work as requested.

· Develop the VAT work from the firm's existing clients.

· Participate in the regions wider marketing activities.



Communication and representation:

· Attend networking events and develop professional relationships with clients.

· Provide an efficient and pro active service to clients.

· Pay attention to self-development and progress within the practice.

· Consult with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters.

· To support and work as a team player, whilst being able to work on own initiative.



Experience required

· Starting to gain staff management and supervisory experience.

· A good grounding in VAT matters, both advisory and compliance.

· Ability to manage a small client portfolio.

· Actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients.

· Some experience of dealing with client senior management.

· Educated to degree level, and/or CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent.

· Demonstrable post qualified experience.
