Risk Assurance Manager, Financial Services

Guildford, United Kingdom, GB - Financial Services



Excellent job opportunity for an experienced Risk professional to join this well-known financial services business based in Surrey and be responsible for Risk Assurance of Key Suppliers and Cash Operations.



Day to day responsibilities:

The identification and evaluation of top level risks

The design of workable assurance scripts to enable the testing of the operational effectiveness of the controls in place to mitigate the identified risks

Identification of any contractual or regulatory requirements for supplier risk management

The completion of assurance testing (field work or indirect assurance questionnaires)

Analysis of the test results including the identification of issues / root causes

Reporting and provision of recommendations for control enhancements including any redesign of the existing control framework

Working with stakeholders to support the implementation of practical control enhancements

The role holder will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, providing Risk MI and insight to inform the Management in relation to the relevant Risk exposures

Line management of team

Relationship management - Develop sound professional working relationships with Operations colleagues, business management, building their confidence and acquiring a comprehensive understanding of the business and regulatory environment that they operate within in order to identify and quantify risk exposures

Build strong relationships with the central risk team and peers to ensure relevant information is communicated and shared in a timely manner.

Management information - Produce accurate, timely and relevant Risk and Assurance MI

Team management - Provide leadership and mentoring to direct reports



Skills and Experience required:

Sound working knowledge of Risk management methodologies including risk identification and assessment, control testing and reporting Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and engagement skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities

A team player with a flexible and pro-active approach, able to work autonomously, seeking guidance when required

Excellent report writing and drafting ability, able to adapt styles to the target audience

Understanding of Operational risk and the application of security controls to mitigate risk exposures

Experience of carrying out security Audit / assurance assessments
