Country Accounting Lead

Job Descriptions
• Leads the end-to-end legal entity accounting and tax processes by connecting, coordinating and communicating with multiple sub-finance functions in a shared services environment.
• Liaises with the country BU Finance and sales operations organizations in delivering accurate financial information.
• Provides the most complex financial analysis for a financial function or a business, typically exercising a unique understanding of the business to determine the best method for achieving objectives.
• Forecasts legal entity financial results within the broadest scope.
• Provides input to drives operational process improvements
. Participate in the accounting policy development initiatives and application of HP’s accounting policies at a country or regional level.
• Represents the country finance during cross-regional or cross-functional meetings.
•Consults with the country business leaders to guide and influence on compliance matters in relation to the company policies and the Standards of Business Conduct
• Assists in managing the compliance risks at a country level by working closely with the business leaders at country or regional level
• Provides mentoring and guidance to analysts and members of internal and external service organizations
• Ability to influence an entire business within a broad scope, interacting with individuals at the senior management level


Financial Planning, Analysis, and Reporting

The in-country controllership roles are highly visible in the organization. The candidate will have an opportunity to work closely with managers of product lines and various support functions as well as the finance mangers to VPs. The candidate will have a real chance to demonstrate his or her leadership and to make a meaningful impact on the business results.

Responsibilities include:
  • Lead and execute monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes by coordinating among multiple stakeholders
  • Report accurate financial information to the regional and corporate offices
  • Ensure timely filings of accurate statutory financial statements and tax returns as required
  • Lead the activities to validate and substantiate the account balances on an ongoing basis
  • Maintain appropriate accounting and operational controls, and thereby, meet the requirements by HP
  • Identify gaps, if any, in accounting and operational controls to drive improvements by working together with key stakeholders
  • Develop various profitability reports including profitability by business, region, and product segment and aid in using these reports to meet both US GAAP and Korean GAAP requirements. These reports are generated on a monthly and quarterly basis to closely monitor the legal entity results.
  • Work closely with the region and country business unit finance teams in understanding the country revenue and margin reports by comparing actual performance to budget, prior year, and forecasts for the different areas of focus.
  • Develop or maintain forecasting models using market indices, historical trends and other methods in order to provide input for transfer pricing decisions.
  • Fully participate in budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Use your strong business drive along with the ability and initiative to identify and develop analytical tools for various areas of the business
  • Communicate in a transparent manner to all stakeholders about what is being done and how the work is performed.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:

• First level university degree with a focus in business or economics; advanced degree or accounting certification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) strongly preferred.
• Typically 10+ years of experience as a financial analyst or equivalents
• Typically experienced in a variety of finance functions including general ledger accounting

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
• Excellent analytical skills
• Superior business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint)with the aptitude to extract meaningful information from the existing business systems
• Prior experiences in SAP (a must)
• Superior communication kills in English and local language
